SUMMARY:CRYPTO : Yann Rotella (LMV) : Weak Pseudo-Random Functions

SUMMARY:PS : Francesca Pistolato : Lipschitz-Killing curvatures for excursion sets of spin spherical random fields
DESCRIPTION:Titre : Lipschitz-Killing curvatures for excursion sets of spin spherical random fields \nRésumé : In this talk\, we study the geometry of excursion sets of spin spherical random fields by means of their Lipschitz-Killing curvatures. Without requiring isotropy\, it is possible to compute explicitly the expectation of these functionals in terms of the spin parameter and the level of the excursion. Moreover\, we will see how to derive an explicit chaotic decomposition for the second curvature\, the surface area\, providing a small step forward in the study of second-order asymptotics in the high-frequency regime. The talk is based on joint works with M. Stecconi.

SUMMARY:PS : Elise Byraktar : Efficient estimation of jump parameters for stochastic differential equations driven by Lévy processes
DESCRIPTION:Titre : Efficient estimation of jump parameters for stochastic differential equations driven by Lévy processes \nRésumé : In this talk\, we consider the high-frequency estimation of the jump parameters of a stochastic differential equation driven by a Lévy process. More precisely\, we are interested in the efficient estimation of scaling and jump activity parameters in the presence of a Brownian motion and a jump component. \nWe first study efficiency for the prototype Lévy process. By studying the behavior of the density of the process\, we prove that the LAN property holds for the joint estimation of the diffusion\, scaling and jump activity parameters. We next consider a stochastic differential equation driven both by a Brownian Motion and a locally stable pure-jump Lévy process. Using a quasi-likelihood estimation method\, we exhibit an estimator that attains the optimal rate of convergence previously identified.

SUMMARY:EDP : Xavier Blanc (LJLL\, CNRS\, Université Paris Diderot) : Schémas volumes finis positifs pour l’équation de diffusion sur maillages déformés

SUMMARY:CRYPTO - Guilhem Jazeron - Practical attacks against the EALPN using belief propagation
DESCRIPTION:Shallow Weak pseudo-random functions (swPRFs) are a class of cryptographic primitives which have recently gained traction due to their use in advanced cryptographic protocols (zero-knowledge proofs\, multipartite computation\, fully homomorphic encryption…). They differ from traditional PRFs by their security model: an attacker can only observe the output of the function on uniformly random inputs that they cannot chose\, which is why these PRFs are called \emph{weak}. The shallow part comes from the requirement that the primitive can be implemented as a low-depth circuit\, in the relevant computation model.\nEA-LPN is one of such constructions\, being particularly suited for producing correlated pseudorandomness. In this talk\, we present a practical attack on EA-LPN. While the EA-LPN swPRF was designed with 128 bits of security in mind\, our theoretical analysis shows that an attacker can recover an « equivalent » key in time $2^{37}$. We also implemented this attack on a regular laptop\, and recovered the « equivalent » key in 10 minutes. While the original presentation of EA-LPN is based on error correcting codes\, our approach makes use of an alternative representation where one output of EA-LPN is viewed as a XOR-sum of comparisons between public inputs and secret keys. This representation allows us to identify a notion of « quasi-equivalent » key\, which we then recover using the belief propagation algorithm instantiated with suitable parameters.

SUMMARY:PS : Nathan Huet
DESCRIPTION:Titre: Regression for extremes: an application to the prediction of sea levels \nRésumé:  In this presentation\, we first introduce a probabilistic framework for regression in regions where the input variable is extreme\, in contrast to classical approaches that typically focus on regions where the output variable is extreme. We establish theoretical results on risks and regression functions in these extreme regions\, and propose an adapted learning algorithm.\nIn a second part\, we apply this algorithm to the prediction of extreme sea levels along the French Atlantic coast. The goal is to predict sea levels at a tide gauge station with a short observation record\, by leveraging extreme data from nearby stations with longer historical records. This approach allows us to increase the available extreme data and then\, to reduce the uncertainty of extreme estimates at the target station. Alongside our regression approach\, we also implement another method based on multivariate extreme value theory\, which can\, for example\, be used to generate synthetic samples of extreme sea levels.

SUMMARY:PS : Vanessa Piccolo
DESCRIPTION:Titre: Spectral phase transitions for latent subspace recovery\n\nRésumé: Recovering low-dimensional structure from high-dimensional data is a recurring problem in probability\, statistics\, and machine learning. I will discuss this problem for Gaussian multi-index models\, where observations depend on high-dimensional Gaussian covariates through an unknown low-dimensional subspace. We give a precise characterization of the spectral behavior of a class of block sample covariance matrices. Depending on the sampling ratio\, the leading eigenvalue either remains at the bulk edge or detaches from it\, in which case the corresponding eigenvector becomes correlated with the latent subspace. Finally\, we identify an optimal spectral method whose threshold matches that predicted by approximate message passing.\nBased on joint work with Florent Krzakala (EPFL) and Pierre Mergny (ENS Paris).
